   It’s strange how we treat different species in very different ways. Replace the cobra with a puppy, a chicken or a giant centipede and the responses would vary from outrage to indifference to disgust.

   those are hardly “American Marines”. The badges that are shown are in Thai. Drinking snake blood is a common thing in the Thai army. In the Brazilian army, they do eat snake meat (for the armed forces that “work” in the Amazon Forest).

   Back to the picture: everyone not showing a badge, aren’t US Marines. These would be using some sort of badge on the right arm.

   I’m betting that they’re soldiers in the Army. I was with the 25th Infantry Division back in 89-92. We went to Thailand in 1990 for a 45-day deployment called “Cobra Gold.” I’d be willing to bet that’s what it is. Some of us drank cobra blood, too. It’s a custom of theirs. They say it makes you a man.

   American Marines from Okinawa train with the Thais all the time. If you look at the guy on the right he has the old OD camo and the thai writing. The rest are wearing the marine MARPAT pattern and are likely American Marines just as the caption indicates.

    these are marines, and he is drinking the blood of a cobra, if u look closly its all over his teeth. I know this becouse I am a marine, and trust me we do alot cmore crazy stuff than this.

    This pic is definately awesome and I think gives you a different point of view on the marines. I do not think it is edited because even though there isn’t blood on the guys mouth, you can see it on his teeth. It would be interesting to know exactly what was going on in the pic. Some people may find it disturbing or disgusting, but I think its very openminded and gives you a different view on other cultural occurances. Heck, I’d do it!

    I went to Thailand with the National Guard, and we did something similiar. The uniforms the Americans arewearing is the current uniform of the Marines.
