How to use a telephone.

By Excellent in Video Clips on May 16, 2007 at 9:02 am

This is a wonderful bit of communications history. It is an instructional film designed to teach those in the Fresno, California area how to use a wonderful new service, a telephone that you could dial yourself.

This is so charming. But also a bit sad because as of May 28, 1927, a bunch of telephone operators lost their jobs in Fresno!

It's also very sad because I can callenge you to obtain such usefull information about any product nowadays.

This film really went through how to use the newfangled phone in every which way. Have you seen a computer or software manual anywhere near as complete?

That was wonderful! I am suddenly nostalgic to be at my parents' house, *dialing* the phone to call my best friend, with the neighbour kid listening in, because we had a party line...

Now we don't even have a "land line", and I expect my phone to also do a dozen other tasks.

    So much change!
