I saw Herbert at the 100th anniversary on Market St. A close friend who was there, had a grandfather who was in the 1906 Earthquake too, and the man wrote letters for two weeks to my friend's future grandmother.

As a historical publisher, I then produced a book about the disaster, using the letters, including 250 photos -- over 100 had never been published.

The book, Two Weeks in San Francisco is one man's story of the great Earthquake and Fire.

I am sure he secretly hates his job like so many others do, and hides away in the warehouse to make some beautiful creations like these.
