Stella Walsh had a gender disorder and had both male and female characteristics. Also, her birth certificate and death certificate state she was female. Medical evidence has proved that people with her condition do not have any advantage over other female athletes. If you research the matter thoroughly, you will find that the Stella the Fella thing was started by media sensationalism and a few jealous competitors not statements of fact.

Buck Weaver, one of the eight "Black Sox" players banned for life, was never shown to have taken any money or participated in any way. The sin that led him to lifetime banishment was not informing officials of the scheme.

Grand Jury testimony did indicate that Jackson tried to inform officials, and tried to return the money. He was advised, (by the White Sox counsel) to accept the statement of facts as presented to him in order to avoid jail He was nearly illiterate, and was caught up in the plans of his teammates.

Every year at Bowman Field there is a potato night.
Admission to the ballgame is a potato.
The potatos are donated to the local food bank.

The gentleman pictured in all of the Sidd Finch shots was, at the time, my applied arts (shop) teacher in junior high. The only thing that we knew was that he suddenly needed a French horn very, very bad and that he was very excited about something. Then April and the press. It was a whole lot of fun. It's Friday night, though, and I've been out drinking and can't remember his name. Mr. Something....

Have faviconed your site. You should know.

And apparently I'm gay. Who knew?

What a funny article! It is very rare that yous see these things happen in sports events. Usually the athletes and the fans are so serious but this list is a great way to look at it in a new light.

I am making this as the "Post of the Day" for my "Post Awards" blog.

The 1919 White Sox were not one of the greatest baseball teams of all time. Yes, they were heavy favorites in the World Series, but that was primarily due to the fact that the American League had been winning the WS with regularity (9 of the last 10 years), and no one saw any reason for that to stop.

As for Joe Jackson - 1) He took money. Admitted it in court, and he did not give it back. 2) While he hit .375 for the Series, the hits were either at inconsequential times, or when everyone was trying to win. He was a cheat, and does not deserve to be in the HOF.

You left one of the funniest ones off - Before a Broncos game he made all sorts of taunting remarks, saying that he couldn't wait to get his hands on Elway's girly face and stuff like that. After making sure the Denver fans were good and pissed, he had a ton of shirts printed up that said "I hate the Boz!" and they were sold at the stadium. So all of these fans booing and cussing at him were wearing shirts that he made and they made him a bunch of money!
