After Captain America [wiki] was killed (for the fourth and presumably final time), we found out that "star spangled avenger has bequeathed his most valuable possession, his indestructible shield to the only man he believed has the red white and blue balls to carry the mantle, Stephen Colbert"

    Im pretty sure Stephen Colbert is involved with Captain America’s death and that you will see him enter as a villain soon or as the new Captain America, who knows!
