A screengrab from the iconic video game Super Mario Bros. 2? No, that’s actually from its prototype Doki Doki Panic.

The Mushroom Kingdom has the comparison between the prototypes and the final version: Link – via digg

    BULLSHIT
Doki Doki panic was a game in its own right before nintendo renamed it Super Mario 2 in the states. All the characters were the same, the spirits were changed, but the game is 1:1
Nintendo thought the real Super mario2 was "too hard" for American audiences. These same people thought SuperPacMan was the natural successor to pacman. If you ever played it, you know its lame as shit

Ditto. Doki Doki Panic is not a prototype but an actual release, a fact long known to die-hard, old-school N fans.

According to the Mushroom Kingdom link, this isn't DDP or SMB2. This is something in between, a true prototype cart. That's an incredibly rare find.
