Plane Sculpture

In late 60s, Rudolph de Harak designed and the sculptor William Tarr built a 1:1 scale Sopwith plane complete with its runway on top of a building to tease the neighboring buildings’ inhabitants.

This was easily visible to visitors to the World Trade tower’s observation deck, before Sept. 11th. I remember seeing this in March 2001. This building seemed quite close from that vantage point. I’m glad to see it survived okay.
