Bert the Turtle Taught Duck and Cover.

In 1951 the Civil Defense Department decided to use Bert the Turtle animation to teach children to "Duck and Cover" [wiki] in case of a Soviet nuclear attack.

    All the cool kids know the correct thing to do in case of a nuclear explosion is to stick a cigarette in your mouth and flip the bird with both hands.

    (well that would have been cool in the 80s, i don’t know what kids are up to these days)
