I actually saw a couple of these in Los Angeles at LA County Museum of Art. They are absolutely real butterfly wings. They are breathtaking. I have no idea how he got so many butterflies either.

Check out the comments on supertouch. There is a lot of debate about whether or not he stole his ideas from another artist.

The gallery lists the media as 'butterfly and household glass' so I guess he was out there with a big net for a while...

the links don't say anything about the media, except that they're paintings, so actually, they would seem to be made up of "images of butterfly wings" not actually butterfly wings. That was my concern, too.

His restaurant 'Number 11' has a piece just life this covering it's walls, and it's amazing, great symmetry. It's located in Ilfracombe, South West England.
