What is It? Game 13

This week's collaboration with What is it? blog brings us these two strange springs (6" tall). Leave a guess in the comment section (no URL, please - let others play). First correct guess will win a Free Neatorama T-Shirt!

Remember to check out What is it? blog for more guessing fun!

Update 3/1/07: The answer is ...

Springs for making a regular chair into a rocking chair, they mount onto the bottom of the front legs.

¡¡It is a holder for a Soldering Iron!! My uncle still uses them. You put the soldering iron in the hole so the hot metal doesn't touch anything.

I have a pair but I am not certain what they do, I have however used them for a project which you can see if you go to Flickr Chauss513 and look in the "My Art" set.

Now that I think about it...they may actually be those springs used for those playground springy horse rides.

The ones that are insanely crazy to be riding on when drunk at night and it's raining. >_>
