What is It? Game 12.

This week's collaboration with What is it? blog brings us this mysterious object about 9 1/2" long. Obviously, you can see a keyhole on the left-hand side. What is this strange object?

[You're playing for bragging rights today - prize with next week's game.]

Update 2/25/07: Here's the answer:

Locks onto an old wheel and spoke to prevent the theft a of car, the side reads "Stop thief car lock".

A leg iron - when it opens you can put it over someone's leg (or maybe an animal's?) and slip a link of chain over the circular fitting above, then close and lock it up.

An anti-theft device for an early automobile. The small ring clamps a wheel spoke while the large hole wraps around the tire and rim. Car cannot be driven away for obvious reasons.

I think it is a wooden collar that goes around the neck, and the smaller loop is where someone would put the chain to keep you in check. There appears to be a key whole to lock it all up.

This is actually a device that is still in circulated use. The large enclosure goes around the torso of any average pond duck, while the neck and head are slipped through the smaller enclosure. Once secured and immobilized, the duck is then tossed back into the pond. If it floats, then the duck is obviously the Wereduck that came out last night and ate all of the tomatoes off the bushes that took you nearly 6 hours to plant out in the hot summer sun and during which time you developed very many blisters from badly mishandling a shovel that noone ever took the time to even teach you how to use.

Sgt. Grumbles...What else floats? Wood? apples? VERY small rocks? No...A Duck! Right, so if she weights the same as a duck she's a witch! BURN HER! BURN HER!!!

The duck always floats thus lulling the other ducks into a false sence of security making it easier to shoot them! It is essence a real life duck decoy maker. :)

i say its handcuffs for the medieval sexual offender. the manhood goes in the small one, and hands go in the large one. he then had to stand in the square naked, holding his junk while he had rotten fruit thrown at him.

It's a gay bondage device. The larger loop goes around the neck while the smaller loop goes around another man's privates. Thusly locking the two men into a face to privates position.

A lock for a wagon. The small loop goes around the axel and the larger around the wheel spoke.

It says "Stop Thief" on it, if you flip your head.

Or it could be a bannana lock. little loop around a banana bunch, big loop around the tree?

It's a shoe lock, for countries where it's traditional to leave your shoes at the office door when you go in to work. It disables the shoe, deterring theft, and stretches it at the same time, for after you've been standing all day and your feet are puffy around the edges.
