Pantyhose for Men.

By Alex in Fashion, Pictures on Feb 10, 2007 at 11:39 pm

Ah, the French … Gerbe, one of France’s leading hosiery makers, is launching a new line of pantyhose for men (complete with front opening):

Gerbe, which is based in eastern France, said this week that the country’s first hosiery line for men would go on sale in March "due to increasing demand from male clients."

The pantyhose comes with a larger belt than for women as well as an opening, with "Men opaque", "sheer" or "satin" available in four models of tights, with and without feet, and three models of feel-good knee-high hosiery made to help drain toxins and massage tired limbs.

Just cause it's got Homme on the label, doesn't mean it isn't really, really gay.

If you're going to wear these to make sure you look faboo in your clothes, don't plan on taking them off in front of anyone! They're like those "control top" granny panties for women... not so sexy in the bedroom.

Funny, since it was men who wore hose and exposed the shape of their legs in the Renaissance, and women who had to cover up theirs in heavy dresses.

    Now it's "wrong" and "gay."

    Times change, I guess.

Ah, the Manty Hose debate...I like it. I think that men should wear hose and bras and corsets! Yes, make them as uncomfortable as we can sometimes be.

I think that using them for skiing is a cop-out because there is some really nice silk longjohns that should do the trick.

But do what you will...you get naked in front of me prepare for laughing! ;) i expect it when I wear the granny panties!

Why shouldn't men be able to wear pantyhose. This "It's all Gay" thing is crap. Nothing gay about being comfortable and stylish. Pantyhose offer leg support if you standing or sitting for long periods, extra warmth and they can add a new look to shorts. Be a man, Stand up for you rights and put on some legwear and to hell with those who think it's not Manly. They have no idea.

I wear them and my wife thinks nothing of it. They make my legs feel great and they are not as sore when I get home from a long day at work. Society just needs to stop labeling people and become a little bit more open minded. This is a mans clothing revolution, so adopt it and drop the hatred of the hose. Lol

Pantyhose are to cover your legs and make them look better. I don't undrestand why it's not okey for man to use it. I'm sure all the ones that are against pantyhose for men are the ones that don't care for their body, in bad shape, fat and hairy and because they know that they will never be able to use it, they say it's gay. How can you compare bras with pantyhose, bras are for tits, men don't have tits, pantyhose are for legs and men do have legs. Now the truth is that if you want to enjoy using pantyhose as a man, you better get rid of the hair.

Hey, I'm a "manly man" and I think that pantyhose are great! I really enjoy seeing them on women, and those women know that the hose are getting them serious attention. I wear them because I like the way they feel hugging and supporting my legs. I'm still a little "gun shy" about wearing in public, but I'm working up the courage. It's only pantyhose after all. I usually wear the european and Comfilon brands made for men, but I do like NoNonsense Smart Support and L'eggs Sheer Energy/Active Support too. The day is fast approaching when all men will have the freedom to wear their pantyhose openly without prejudice.

There are very good reasons for men to wear support pantyhose, and some of the most important ones are leg and blood circulation; leg health; leg and feet swelling; leg vein health issues; and leg pain.

Women have been able to wear whatever they choose, whenever they choose, including men's clothes. In fact over the years they have taken over many men's clothing options, which have caused men to abandon many of them, making what used to be men's clothing now women's clothing. Nobody gives a second thought to anything any woman decides to wear, because they have declared absolute right to wear whatever they want whenever they want. No one thinks women are strange, wierd, odd, unusual, gay, or crossdressing because of any particular article of clothing they choose to wear.

It is high time that men have the same ability and freedom to choose articles of clothing without people giving it a second thought; the same freedoms and abilities women demanded and didn't care what anyone thought. While this should be true for any choice, it should especially be true when it comes to articles of clothing that provide some health or quality of life or relief of pain benefits that support pantyhose can bring under many situations.

I believe both men and women should have the free choice to wear or not wear pantyhose. While both men and women should also be free to decide whether to shave their legs or not when wearing pantyhose; I personally think both men and women should shave their legs if they are going to wear pantyhose, especially if they are going to wear them in the open such as in shorts, skirts, or dresses. I don't believe women should be required to shave if wearing hose, but then men have the choice of shaving when wearing hose. If women are expected to shave when wearing hose, so should men be expected to shave when wearing hose.

IF wearing pantyhose makes a man gay, then NOT wearing them makes a woman a Lesbian. That only makes sense if you're going to go with that whole "gay" argument. Pantyhose just feel good. So what? And if it's gay for a guy to wear something thought of to be a "woman's" item of clothing, then what about all the women wearing suits and pants and other items that guys are supposed to wear? Why is it OK for women to wear women's or men's clothing, but guys have to wear only "men's" clothing?? What's with the double standard? Why do women get away with this and are not labled "gay"?
By the way, Women need to go back to wearing pantyhose more often!

Thick opaque tights are fine. My Bf always wears them snowboarding and it's not odd at all. Basketball players and runners do too.

If there's a market for anything around here, it would be a good, strong anxiolytic. Why else would you get so many haters commenting on a tiny issue like this? And what's with this business of using 'gay' as a hate-word? I thought most of us were living in the 'free world', so what about a bit of live and let live?

OK, yet another company has manufactured pantyhose for men. This has been going on for a very long time, so it's not big news at all to some of us familiar with Comfilon and Wolford and the rest.

I've been wearing pantyhose for decades, and at first there weren't any special pantyhose for men, but I can't say that worried me. If you're going to claim sheer pantyhose are fetish wear, well, fine, but where's that idea coming from?

As it is, my legs feel great, my wife isn't worried, and if the hose are sheer enough I can wear them with my shorts in the summer and nobody notices, or if they do they don't care. I don't see why hose can't be a fashion choice for either sex, anyway, as they were a couple of hundred years ago, and I've got to agree that when you look at the dull stuff on offer as men's clothing, the more diversity, the merrier.

There are people who absolutely love wearing pantyhose for whatever reason. Then there are people who don't like to wear pantyhose and/or see other people wearing them (woman or man). This all comes down to a matter of opinion, beliefs and values.

Men have been wearing pantyhose for a long time and they will continue to wear them as long as manufacturers make them. Whether this becomes mainstream or not...well, time will tell. Fashions change all the time, and the way things are looking, there is a chance pantyhose could become mainstream fashion for men. All that is required is for society's viewpoint to change, and the way this happens, historically, is through advertizing. Let's be honest, who hasn't seen one picture of a guy wearing tights or pantyhose in the month.

    That's my two cents!

I've been wearing pantyhose for several years now. I have had knee and circulatory problems in my legs and I used to work in the medical field. So I knew about medical stockings. I also knew how expensive they were.

I decided that I would try leggs sheer energy first and see if they helped. They did and they also made my pants fit better.

I have since moved onto Hanes Alive. They offer GREAT compression and they have many neutral colors to make it easy to wear with pants without the need for socks. Comfilon has a great product and a lot of great useful information about this subject. I, however, prefer Hanes Alive. The price is good, they last a long time, and they have the tightest compression without buying medical stockings

With refards to the whole "gay" thing. I am happily married and "Love" looking at women in pantyhose. At first, my wife wasn't thrilled about my wearing pantyhose, but she understood that they helped my legs. She thought that they should only be worn by women. Over the years she has grown to accept it and she would agree that the legs should be shaved if you are going to wear pantyhose. I can honestly say that seeing another man in pantyhose would do "nothing" for me other than make me happy that he is helping to further the cause of social acceptance of men wearing pantyhose.

For me, I derive no "sexual" pleasure of wearing pantyhose under my clothes because it is not a fetish. It is about support and the benefits they offer. If I wear shorts, I don't have the courage to wear pantyhose. By the end of the day, my legs are exhausted and achy. I could have the same day all over wearing pantyhose and jeans and when I get home, my legs are fine. The support they provide is amazing. Of course, there are many who say "I hate pantyhose becuase they sag or they itch". The reason for this is the quality of legwear. Buy the cheap 100% nylon pantyhose and that's what you'll get. They need to have lycra or spandex in them. The more they have, the better support ehy provide and the longer they will last. I can get about 12-15 wearings out of mine before I need to concider throwing them out.

I won't go into the whole women who wear mens clothes and it being socially accepted. I think it has already been covered well by several others here. I will simply say like a couple before me that it is NOT about wearing women's clothing. It is about the benefit of support legwear. I have no reason to wear a bra, put on makeup, wear a dress, or buy high heel shoes. I'll leave that to those who want to push the boundries of fashion like run way models or to the crossdressers. But nylons are an article of clothing that I think we should ALL concider as Unisex. Just like socks or underwear. I don't think that any of us would say "women can't wear socks because they are/were made for men, therefore, any women wearing socks are dikes". This would be just as stupid as saying that most professional athletes are men and when they are injured, they wear a leg brace. If you are a women and you have to use a leg brace, you must be gay.

My point is this. There are many medical benefits to wearing support pantyhose and they should not be viewed as a social taboo if guys want/need to wear them.

I 'm a straight guy and i been wearing pantyhose from time to time, for nearly 20 years now, just because it feels great. I also occasionally get sexually aroused by that feeling too, and none of my girlfriends in the past found that to be a problem, nor does my wife now, so we have sometimes both worn them in bed. Is there any logical reason why i shouldn't?

Plenty of straight guys wear pantyhose or tights and there are several manufacturers making a range of hosiery for men.

I have to laugh at all of those who feel the need to post derogatory comments on this blog. What are they all frightened of? If men want to wear tights/pantyhose, where is the problem? Men were wearing tights long before women stole the idea.

  36. Great idea!!!!!
    Oct 8th, 2008 at 1:41 am

Amazed as I am that this is starting to take notice, I must say, I'm pleased. For years now men from all over have been wearing pantyhose or tights under their pants and now the market place is starting to profit from it... That's great!!! Many of the guys who try it, soon find they like them and start wearing hose/tights daily, which is causing this idea to catch on. In an era when females have decided to hang up their pantyhose for bare legs and open toed shoes, for every occation, then why shouldn't men enjoy them?? Especially those who like the way they feel or benifit from the additional support and warmth they bring. Females have dropped wearing hose for wearing tights, and only in the winter for warmth; though (straight) men, are wearing them year round...

I think if the hosiery companies are not going to profit from girls wearing their products, then why shouldn't profit from men?

A very interesting topic. And one I'm quite familiar with. I guess I started my interest in hose some 40 years ago. It was too difficult to buy garters and nylons, but when the pantyhose fashion hit, .... I was ready. And have done so ever since (of course there were times I got away from it, and then went back to them). And today, I enjoy wearing a good fitting pair of pantyhose anytime I get the chance. I don't go out in public with shorts on, but do wear them to work under my "uniform of the day" at least 3 or 4 times a week. And I like wearing them to bed too. I used to get leg cramps at night, and since I'm regularly wearing my Leggs Active Supports to bed, that problem has ceased. I guess I could get buy with wearing them with shorts, but I'm not interested in shaving legs at this time (not much there to begin with). But the hair I do have is pretty light colored, and found that using a couple of blonde hair coloring treatments before heading out to a halloween party or other costume event, the hair coloring did just fine for me. It is too bad that there are so many (men & women alike) that in "today's world", don't accept men wearing pantyhose. I do enjoy wearing some nylon/spandex panties too (Fruit of the Looms cotton briefs don't work well under pantyhose). I think in the beginning, it was a fetish issue (created excitement), but today the fetish is secondary. The real plus is more comfortable legs, warmer in cooler weather, and I do enjoy the feel of slacks/jeans "gliding" over the nylon/spandex clad legs. There's my brief dialogue on the subject. Thanks for listening (reading).

I have read all of the positive and negative comments. For all those people that like wearing pantyhose (male or female); that's great! For all those people that don't like wearing pantyhose (male or female); that's great! We all have our opinions, and we have a right to express how we feel and what we think. Pantyhose wearing by men might become standard fashion, and I hope it does. I wear pantyhose. I enjoy the way they feel and the way they look. And, yes, I do shave my legs. Matted down hair under panty hose looks gross. Pantyhose wearing by men might never see the light of day, and I am willing to except that. So, there are a lot of men who love wearing nylons and other assorted nylon undergarments and this will never change. It is what it is. For all of those people who don't like it, your feelings are what they are. We are not forcing you to accept this fashion. It would be nice to keep all the negativity to yourselves, because it is not going to change anything. And, because there are men who wear nylons doesn't mean it's going to change anyhting.

It would be great to have a little understanding!

Hey, Just a quick comment from me, if you havent tried it dont knock it. Get over it. Its all about freedom of choice in what you wear. If you make the choice to wear legwear as a man good for you. I do as i work outdoors in the midwest in the winter. Not nearly as bulky and if you get the right size very comfortable. This does not mean anyone is gay or not. Be tolerable to those that choose not to be just like you think they should be.

Men and women should be free to wear clothing they are comfortable wearing without being labeled anything; just look around at all of the behavior and styles of people.

Pantyhose, especially support pantyhose that bring health and comfort benefits should be worn openly and freely by both men and women with what ever else they may be wearing on a given day. That includes pants, shorts, skirts, or dresses. It is only clothing, and clothing should not have any sexual preference meaning or tag.

Many men (more than anyone realizes) wear support pantyhose for circulation and other health related reasons that have nothing to do with style, sexual preference or anything else. Many women who had given up or never worn pantyhose before are now wearing support pantyhose for the very same circulation and other health related reasons that men wear them.

Should these men and women be restricted to wearing them only under the cover of long pants? Or during the warm months in which shorts, skirts or dresses would be more comfortable - should they be required to choose between the comfort of seasonal clothing or support panyhose that bring health benefits? I think not!

Properly selected pantyhose with shorts can look very nice on men or women; and in most situations wouldn't even be noticed by other people. So why give up the health and comfort benefits of wearing your support panyhose. Stop worrying about what other people might think, and wear what you are comfortable wearing and what will bring you continued health benefits.

Men and women wear your support pantyhose with your shorts. And men, if you are comfortable in a skirt or kilt, wear your support pantyhose with your kilt or skirt.

But man or woman, if you are wearing pantyhose with shorts, skirts or dresses - shave your legs.

well unfortunately i have to wear support hose due to circulation and blood clots. i have to say i don't like it but i have no choice. i would like to see my kids graduate college so i do it. my wife helps make it better. she mixes outfits with the colored ones and i do wear them with shorts. in the summer it just gets way to hot with pants. i admit before this i would think it is kinda weird, but now i see that there are reasons why guys do it. again i don't like it but i am not going to make fun of guys that do it. it opened my eyes and well if it helps me live longer then i suppose i'll continue to do it every day for the rest of my life. for those who wear them just because, well keep it going. don't let insecure closed minded individuals tell you different.

I'm a pantyhose wearer, I have been wearing them off and on for over 20 years. For the past 2 years I have been wearing them daily, what I have noticed is that I feel great after a long days work where before I would feel tired and rundown after only 2-3 hours. The pantyhose are staying on! This year I have decided to wear them more often in my off time while wearing shorts. No one notices and if they do they don't say anything. Becides I'm first and formost looking after my health and inproving my circulation from my legs.
Leg hair...I shave my legs. Leg hair and pantyhose don't mix, before I started shaving my pantyhose would always slide down. Now they stay in place, becides it looks gross seeing leg hair all matted up. Support, I have plenty...full-support pantyhose on my legs and full-support from my wife to wear them.

For guys who wear these things for cirulation I have a suggestion to makers of hosiery period. I have to wear these things like many of the guys above. But I also agree with the women above. There is a gay or crossdressing stigma attached to them. If someone wants to blaze a trail and make mantyhose acceptable more power to them. However, I don't think it will be made acceptable and it doesn't address a problem men like me have. The only medical support hose I've seen that can't be confused with pantyhose (they look like long johns) ,thus, could be acceptable runs at least $30 for a single pair. Why can't someone make a facsimilie of them for the 3 for 12 bucks that I see womens selling for?

  51. Steve Newman
    Jun 27th, 2009 at 7:40 pm

Gwy: I disagree that there's necessarily a gay/crossdressing stigma attached to men wearing hose. This trend is really starting to break out, and people are getting accustomed to seeing guys wearing hose anymore. And, because of that, people no longer automatically jump to those conclusions--unless of course the wearer acts in such a way as to make that assumption a reasonable one.

I have a blog called The Nylon Gene (www.nylongene.com) and I've been acting as a vocal and visible advocate for the mainstreaming of men's pantyhose. Check out some of the photos there and some of the posts that hopefully inform discussion elsewhere on the web and in the media. I guess you might say I'm that guy you were talking about to blaze the trail. Now, I just need some troops to follow my trail.

As for the medical support hose, I think the point is really to make them lighter and more comfortable (as we've done at ActivSkin), not to copy the heavy, uncomfortable pattern of Jobst, etc. only cheaper. Check out ActivSkin (www.activskin.com) and see what you think. Our Style A2019 might be a good match for you. They're only $9.99 and provide very good leg support. ALso have a very generous return policy if you don't like them.

    dear readers,

I personaly just love them and wear them where ever and when ever I like. Anyone who does so too, doesn't need anyones approval or opinion to do also.
Everybody should live and LET live.
If everybody would think like this, than where would be this stupid discussion: Pantyhose for men?

    kind regards dutch dr. benny

I wear support pantyhose every day and most of my gay friends and lover do too. We are all straight acting and appearing even when we go out in public in our pantyhose and shorts. I get a lot of great comments from guys and have gotten many to try a pair.

Another pantyhose wearing straight male here. I wear them for many reasons. Mostly because they feel great. And I will admit it is also a bit of a fetish for me. I dont wear other womens clothing. Just pantyhose. I am 6'4" and 200lb. My wife thinks its a turn on when I wear them to bed. I have tried to meet other men that wear them but it is so taboo you just dont know who has them on.

Favorites for the price: Leggs Full Support and active support. NoNonsense smart support. If I had the money: Orublu and CK. Love those. If I really had the money: Wolford they are simply the best pantyhose I have ever put on.

If you havent "done it" it pantyhose with your spouse you really need to .

What is with all this gay bashing ? Gays are human beings and nobody has the right to put them down for any reason .

Men and women should be free to wear clothing they are comfortable wearing without being labeled anything; just look around at all of the behavior and styles of people.

There are very good reasons for men and to wear support pantyhose, and some of the most important ones are leg and blood circulation; leg health; leg and feet swelling; leg vein health issues; and leg pain.

Women have been able to wear whatever they choose, whenever they choose, including men’s clothes. In fact over the years they have taken over many men’s clothing options, which have caused men to abandon many of them, making what used to be men’s clothing now women’s clothing. Nobody gives a second thought to anything any woman decides to wear, because they have declared absolute right to wear whatever they want whenever they want. No one thinks women are strange, wierd, odd, unusual, gay, or crossdressing because of any particular article of clothing they choose to wear.

It is high time that men have the same ability and freedom to choose articles of clothing without people giving it a second thought; the same freedoms and abilities women demanded and didn’t care what anyone thought. While this should be true for any choice, it should especially be true when it comes to articles of clothing that provide some health or quality of life or relief of pain benefits that support pantyhose can bring under many situations.

Properly selected pantyhose with shorts can look very nice on men or women; and in most situations wouldn’t even be noticed by other people.

I don’t believe women should be required to shave if wearing hose, but then men have the choice of shaving when wearing hose. If women are expected to shave when wearing hose, so should men be expected to shave when wearing hose.

Support pantyhose do wonders for your leg health; wear them daily without concern of what others may think; because it is your leg health not theirs. Think of the relief of pain and swelling when you start to worry about other's thoughts.

Futuro support pantyhose are excellent in providing support and comfort while reducing leg pain and swelling. Your legs feel great at the end of a long day, whether that be standing, sitting, walking, or traveling. They massage your legs while walking, and leaving your legs energized and lacking that tired feeling.

I have problems with swelling and aching in my legs.
Support pantyhose help this. Your attitude is typical of ignorant bigoted people. I'm married with kids, is that gay too? Just don't put on those jeans, someone might think you're a lesbian :P

some of the first comments were pretty ignorant and ill educated here, with the words gay etc! let me remind you, shallow minded folk that tights were invented by MEN FOR MEN! Tights were worn by men before women were allowed to wear trousers! Shall we label women gay for wearing trousers and socks???

Hi! I'm happily married man with children and I wear pantyhose. My wife fully support me from the first day when I tell her about it and she never think about me that I'm gay. I am straight man. I love my wife, she love me!
Guys, wear what you want for YOUR own comfort or/and needs!

I'm a 44 year old married male that loves to wear pantyhose. I'm not gay, not a transvestite or anything else like that. I'm married to a sexy gorgeous wife. I wear pantyhose (without underwear) under my pants because I love the feel of them against my skin covering my legs. I love when my wife wears pantyhose, they turn me on more so than any of her other sexy underwear. I'm 5'11" tall and weight 190 lbs. I wear Leggs Sheer Vitality, sheer to waist, Queen Plus. I think they provide the perfect balance of support without squeezing you to death by the end of the day, they have a nice sheer look to them and they are pretty durable as far as sheer pantyhose go. You can find them in most supermarkets for about $5 each. I even got my wife to start using them when she started complaining about her pantyhose. In the winter, I also like to wear sheer black tights pantyhose in the winter time under my running pants when I run. They provide good support to the legs and keep your muscles warm.
