Scientists Mapped the Altruism Center of the Brain.

Posted by Alex in Health on February 5, 2007 at 1:30 am

Scientists from the Duke University Medical Center claimed that they have found the "altruism" center of the brain:

Scientists say they have found the part of the brain that predicts whether a person will be selfish or an altruist.

Altruism – the tendency to help others without obvious benefit to oneself – appears to be linked to an area called the posterior superior temporal sulcus.

Using brain scans, the US investigators found this region related to a person’s real-life unselfish behaviour.

Fake Cop Car Below Billboard.

Posted by Alex in Advertising on February 5, 2007 at 1:27 am

From Advertising/Design Goodness:

A driver from a distance will see a police car hiding behing a billboard, as the police typically do in Turkey/ thus the driver instinctively slow down or make sure that they are going at the legal speed limit. When they come closer they are able to read the billboard text:

Pay your traffic tickets on time without waiting in line – isbank.com.tr

However just as they pass the billboard they will realize that there really isn’t a police car hiding there. That actually is a full size reproduction of a police car which is a part of the billboard.

Muppet Mobile Lab, Starring Dr. Bunsen and Beaker.

Posted by Alex in Comics & Cartoons on February 5, 2007 at 1:26 am

Jim Hill has the story and photo of a remote-controlled animatroic "Mobile Muppet Lab" featuring Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker:

The way I hear it, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew & Beaker were the real highlight of this year’s corporate Christmas party at the Walt Disney Company.

Over the past two months, numerous Mouse House insiders have written to me — wanting to share details of their bizarre encounters with this next phase of Disney’s "Living Character Initiative" program. These folks were just standing around at the party, minding their own business. Only to have this rocket ship-shaped craft roll up right next to them. And the next thing they knew, these remote controlled AA versions of Bunsen & Beaker would begin interacting with them.
