A necessary action because all laws have certain levels of ambiguity. Congress can, and does, override executive orders by revising statutes and the courts occasionally find executive orders illegal or unconstitutional. These orders have all the enforcement of a law, without having to have congressional approval. If that's true, then technically we've had dictators ever since. Because now, after Congress gave him special powers to rule by decree, he can finally be considered a dictator. This measure is supposed to last 18 months, but since he is the supreme ruler I guess in the 17th month he could simply modify it and decide that he will rule by decree for life. I just hope he suffers a heart attack and dies one of these days. What was Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez?
