Actually that is called atavism.

Wikipedia: "the unexpected appearance of primitive traits; or a reversion to or reappearance of a trait that had been present in a lineage in the past, but which had been absent in intervening generations."

Some gene that has been dormant for millions of years is activated on a individual due to a mutation in another gene.

Hmm... So chickens have evolved from a waterbird.

Genetic mutation... they jump to conclusion.

It has been demonstrated that itâ€™s impossible for the two species to breed but it may be possible to find specimens that are compatible with other species. It's extremely rare but that is one of the possible cause of evolution.

Iterspecies breeding. Speaking of Daniel Radcliffe...
