The parking lot that sign is pointing to is where I typically stop to put on chains when the weather's nasty. That particular night it was blocked off, tons of flashing lights, about what you'd expect. Couldn't see anything, was still blocked off the next morning. Didn't find out what happened until I got home and looked it up on The Tubes. Can't say it came as a huge surprise. Planes regularly fly within a few feet of those power lines and trees on approach and the winds around here can be fierce. When I found out what happened I immediately assumed the guy had caught an ugly tailwind on approach and just lost his lift. Glad he made it relatively unscathed anyhow. For what it's worth, plans are in place to move the runway 500' to the south and extend it by 1000'. Plans made prior to the crash, incidentally. Thanks for the pic!
