Seriously, my parents took me to Europe with them when I was 12 (in '75), and they made DANG sure I took in all the sights!
(Of course, my Dad was a Set Designer, so he was big on Art &#38; Culture!)
I acquired a major portion of my aesthetic sense on that trip!

There's just no reaching kids today.</description>
