Huge Floating Crane

I’m not sure if this is Japan’s largest floating crane or if it’s the biggest in the world, but either way, it’s huge!

The “Yoshida” was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Division has a boom length of 132m and a lifting capacity of 3,700 tons. Each hook is 10m tall and it’s operator needs to climb 800 steps to reach the small cab atop the crane. Link

That sure looks like an attack class submarine. Are the Japanese even allowed to have those submarines? Any submarines?

Hehe! With the way the headline popped up on my monitor, the picture was blocked at first. So I see "Giant Floating Crane" and I'm thinking "versize waterfowl sitting in an inner tube"... :-)

That is one impressive piece of work, though!

Sorry folks - to my knowledge, the Saipem 7000 is the world's largest crane, with twin, 7000t lifts:

You would think Saipem would flout that fact and have better pictures of it lifting massive objects.

Why shouldn't the Japanese Self-Defense forces own submarines? Aren't they allowed to defend their nation from other peoples' armed forces?

I can't figure out what class of sub it is. This is a list of what Japan has currently.

That's no submarine. They were trying to recreate the Hindenberg.

Don't know about the stats but I saw The Bonga in action a few years back lifting the Gateshead Millenium Bridge into place.
