The Melbourne restaurant closed a couple of months back. Give a year or two for the cycle to start again.

http://www.unsicht-bar-berlin.de/ is one of the restaurants in berlin (has been here for quite a while as well). However, i agree with "good for not-so-hot dates" :D

i hate the fact that they only serve multi-course menus though..

This is a interesting, but slightly weird, concept that has come to the Western World, from yes, you guessed it, China. For some reason, the Chinese and Japanese are always at the forefront of being very, oh so, different compared to the rest of the world. But hey, at least they’re trying new things…

As in Switzerland, Montreal's O.Noir restaurant was created to help employ blind people and help raise awareness about the blind.

the restraunt in zurich is called blindekuh and theres another located somewhere in europe but i forgot. the staff is consisted of only blind and visually impaired and the restraunt was created to open opportunities for those who can't find jobs otherwise. it was a great experience and it helped me realize the tough situations the blind were faced in everyday tasks such as eating. definitely someplace to check out if you're in or near that area.

great food too..i wonder if the chef was blind too..

I'm not convinced by the idea that the other senses are heightened when one can't see. One would rely on the other sense more, certainly, but the notion that blind people's hearing is better than seeing people's (for example) is a fallacy, constructed to make seeing people not feel so bad for the blind.

Why don't they just blindfold the diners? Seems it would be a lot less trouble.

In Switzerland though, the idea is different. The restaurant was created by blind people, to show the seeing what being blind is like. And the waiters don't wear night vision goggles - they're just blind :-P
