Backyard Septic Tank for Doggie Doo-Doo.

The Doggie Dooley is a backyard septic tank for doggie doo-doo!

The Doggie Dooley provides a simple, hassle-free sanitary way to dispose of pet waste. Simply dig a hole and insert the 4-gallon "septic tank". Step on the lid to drop in pet waste. Enzymes and bacteria inside break down waste so it dissolves harmlessly into the soil without odors or mess.

That'd be a great idea except for this one little thing: "We're sorry, but this item is no longer available".

These are available through Dr. Fosters and Smith (catalogs and online).
We have one (a larger model) & it works GREAT - but it only 'digests' waste at temps above 40 degrees.
Waste can be deposited in it year round though, and it's nice for all of us having a doodie-free yard to walk on!

Remember, it's just like a real septic tank. If you don't have decently draining soils, the "stuff" won't go away.

I was disappointed to find in the instructions that you need to dig a 4 foot deep hole for this system and if you hit clay you're out of luck. Here in the south we hit clay after 18 inches. I'm thinking of installing a little French drain away from the bucket as an alternative. Has anyone tried this?
