Reindeer Sausage.

Just in time for Christmas: reindeer sausage!

With grilled onions and mustard, it will cost you $8 at Fred Markoff's hot dog stand in Glenview. ...

His other specialties include smoked alligator-and-pork sausages and buffalo bratwursts.

I always thought this was normal. I guess growing up in Alaska you eat different food than other places. Most Denny's and Village Inn type restaurants serve reindeer sausage. It's better than most other's.
No alligator though. Guess if I was raised in Florida...

Yeah, same as with Aleki, I always assumed that reindeer was actually pretty common elsewhere as well (knowing that a lot goes on export). I live in the northern parts of Sweden and eat reindeer fairly often.

I had a reindeer hot dog about 3 months ago while on a cruise to the Alaskan inside passage. We stopped at one of the ports... maybe Juneau... and we had a reindeer hot dog from one of the vendors along the water front. My gosh, it was one of the best sausages I've had in a long time and for $5 bucks, definately a cheap, new experience. Now I'm hooked but find the shipping charges of $40+ for some Alaskan Reindeer Sausages a bit hard to swallow. :(

Geez, writing aboujt this gets me hungry.. I need a reindeer fix.
