    Because they didn’t take into account cost of living. Sure, you’re richer than most in China, but Big Macs in China cost only $1.26 - so, you do the math - if a Big Mac costs $2.50 where you live, a Chinese person making half as much as you lives as well.

    The Japanese make a LOT of money, but they also pay the highest prices for everything.

    It also doesn’t take into account how many people you support. But when I divided my income by the three people who rely on my income, it only made a different of 2% globally.

    But since I live in a poverty-sticken part of the US, I live better than people who make several times my income in New York or San Francisco.

    WOW, what a great link! Good point about the cost of living … I think I need to move my poor self to a farm in India, I’d live like the percentile on this graph says I should!

    Which would be more accurate to enter:
    Gross incomme or net income (ie after taxes)
