Apologies if I upset anyone. I am sure Alex is not stupid, and the story in itself is neat. However, political editorialising undermines the writer by betraying bias, whether that be one way or the other. Recently, I’ve noticed more politics than usual on Neatorama, and with respect for the posters’ allegiances, all one-sided. I don’t care to tell people what they can or can’t say, however as a visitor to the site I feel I have as much right as anyone to ask that some commonsense be observed, especially in the field of politics. I concede that I originally put this notion very bluntly and, as such, I offer sincere apologies to those who were angered or offended by my crude comments.

I thought it was funny, especially the build-up. Its self-importance reminded me of the self-importance of Western news channels like CNN and Fox.

Finally, a new era in news reporting(!), with two anchors who look about as professional as the folks on the Naked News.

If it makes you think about your own news providers, maybe it’s a good thing.

If you can not listen to someone elses point of view, why should anyone listen to yours? If you can’t defend your point of view, even to yourself, what is the point of having such convictions?

This is why an English AlJazeera is important, and why comments like haribo’s, which while I agree with the first half of his position, are so very wrong and counterproductive.

Aramax, there are a lot of muslim Americans, and certain Americans in general, who would have interest in an English language Al Jazeera. Particularly, English-speaking Americans who were interested in the Arab perspective would have to stick to English-written webpages, or groups like MEMRI who translate content from AlJazeera (http://memritv.org/).

As far as the actions of our President, his father (and his new nominee for the Secretary of State) was previously a director of the CIA, and the CIA has a long history of nation building in order to fight the spread of communism. This might go a long way to explaining why he thinks the way he does.

Only one question about that news chanel… is there really a need to make news inside midle orient for americans?

What’s wrong with CNN or another american news chanel deliver the news for the americans?

This news chanel only proves one thing… some peoples are desperate to try to inform us that there will be changes in midle orient and changes around there are always bad news.

Why can’t the world let them live in peace? US governement has no right to impose their military presence in a country that does not belong to them. Im not trying to justify the actions of terrorists here but im also not trying to defend the actions of the president of the united state when he decided to send armed troups to “Help” the peoples in midle orient without the concent of the majority in the year 2000. That was undemocratic of them.

That was my thought too. Every time terrorists release video it’s been through Al Jazeera. I’m pretty sure that would make it a “conduit of choice”.

It doesn’t really seem to be news… It’s more like propoganda to me. By the way I’m not saying American news is any better. Every station seems to have it’s own spin. This one just seems to be anti- American/Israel.

Mrgoodbar, it seems to me that every time the terrorists have something to say, they call up Al Jazeera. The network has broken news on all of bin Laden’s video clips. That qualifies it as a “conduit”, no?

I think it’s neat. Kind of nice to see news focusing on the world and current issues, instead of “news” about a dead puppy or someone getting raped, for a change. I like it.

For the love of god please stop editorializing every pseudo-political post. Has Neatorama been bought by Faux News? NO? Then drop the act. Al Jazeera’s English channel is news worthy but to say they are a “conduit of choice for terrorists” shows that you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

I really enjoyed the documentary “Control Room” which covered Al Jazeera and that network’s coverage of the gulf war.
