M400 SkycarÂ®

eBay Motors has a M400X Skycar VTOL Prototype Aircraft for sale. Bidding was at $2.5 million last I checked.

The prototype M400 SkycarÂ®, is powered by eight air-cooled RotapowerÂ® rotary engines; two in each of the four nacelles. Each nacelle contains two engines and two independently rotating fans and is capable of generating approximately 500 pounds of vertical thrust. The nacelles rotate 45 degrees and have thrust deflection vanes that provide for an additional 45-degree change in direction of the airflow to produce the 90-degree (vertical) thrust required for takeoff and hovering. Both the nacelles and deflection vanes are intended to operate in the horizontal position while at cruise speeds.

I donâ€™t understand a bit of this, but it looks pretty cool. Link

Moller has been gnawing on the flying car bone since the mid-70′s. The M400 has been in development for a good two decades, and according to MythBusters, has consumed about $200 million in investment capital. Which leads to Moller being investigated by the SEC for fraud; he would take “non-refundable deposits” from potential buyers, but has never delivered a single working unit that lives up to his claims.

Guess you could call him a really good salesman.

Yep the guy can sell-he and his family have gotten rich off this scam. He pays himself thousands in rent plus a huge salary and pays his family well too. His vehicle is not even close to really flying and his production claims are a joke.I feel bad for all the people who have invested with him not knowing that thier money was going to line his pockets. He’s a baby Enron-look up Davis Wiki.
