Fresh Milk Artwork Found at Thriftstore!

Posted by Alex in Arts & Crafts on October 17, 2006 at 1:20 am

Neatorama reader johnsebastian sent in this oil on canvas artwork he found at a thriftstore in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, which is remarkably similar to the Fresh Milk post we had a couple of days ago.

The painting was signed "Strosnider," although the origin of the artwork and the artist were unclear.

By the way, it turns out that cow’s milk is bad for kittens (it can make them sick and give them diarrhea).

This was a recognized, if minor humor concept in the 19th century - I have two stereoviews showing a farmer squirting milk; to a cat in one image, and to a pig in t'other. The title is the same on both - "And Nicodemus was fed by the Wayside." Nice to see a modern version!
