MT,Im am sorry but most subways systems dont use the "line up in a orderly fashion method" like from the subway system you use. You'll have to fight your way through if you dont want to catch the last train home. I am guessing you have never stepped foot in a subway before.

Toronto can be fairly hectic, but generally it's not too violent. A little nudging and elbowing, but no pushing unless you want people to glare.

living in chicago, and having lived in japan, i wish every single day that people here had to experience public transportation in japan. really, just to learn the etiquette of the whole thing. maybe i should write an online article about it......
