Okay… really dating myself, but I remember when they sold special “cutters” which would nick the side of the floppy to make it copy protected. If you wanted to write to the disc you had to cover it with tape. Of course my memory may be failing me but I think that’s how it worked. All I know is when the 3.5″ disks came out with their high density and hard shell it sure did make life a lot easier…
Anyone remmeber 8″ floppies?

The original creator of these books (i.e., not Jonathan above) has some 8″ available even though the raw material is becoming harder to acquire.

Mrgoodbar you are correct in the memory.. but i did not buy those i would scissors or a hole punch to make the nick
