Sandals from Old Things…

By Alex in Pictures on Jul 6, 2006 at 10:04 am

When Make Blog put a post on sandals from old auto tire, that’s creative!

But when Neatorama puts out sandals from old water bottles, that’s just sad…

(Forgot where I got this pic – if anyone knows the story behind it, please let me know!)

With regards to the second picture and where you might have got it from, I first saw it in an email about not taking things for granted. Here’s a link: http://sonic200.com/others/tuongphan.htm

Not sure if this is what you were looking for though.

I have a friend of mine that went to Africa and came back with a pair of goodyear sandals, very cool. he loved them and they lasted forever, I suppose a human foot puts a lot less wear & tear on the tread than a car does.

I know this image was in the economist magazine in the last 2 or 3 years – in a article on African poverty. It may have been the cover but I’m not sure

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the Viet Cong used rubber from tires to make sandals during our war over there.

How young are you people? Don’t you remember the tire tread sandles from the late ’70′s? I had a pair and I lived in the middle of bumf*ck Iowa.
