The Red Thread Project was started by me two years ago as a community art project. It grows and takes on the nuances of each city I have taken it. On June 30th I will be connecting 500 or so people to a 1/3 mile long red thread to symbolize the connections between all of us. All the hats are handmade, most by the residents of Grand Rapids. So, thought the project was started by me, it is about the creative imagination of the residents of the city. After the performance and display of the connected hats, the hats will be donated to two cancer charities.
