Pain at the Gas Pump.

This one’s self explanatory, except for Neatorama readers from the UK and Europe, who would think that those gas prices are darned cheap!

Much has been made recently of Venezuela's prices. "Gas is cheaper than water". Here in Canada it's $.98 per liter. A bottle of water at 7/11 is $1.25 for .5 liter.

Living in South Florida, $2.59 would be a dream come true. The cheapest I gas I saw yesterday was $2.94, with the average at $2.99 right now.

In Norway, gas prices (regular) are about 7.45 dollars/gallon. So yeah, this cartoon really doesn't make sense for europeans.

Ahhh the good old days when gas was cheap..er.
I live in the Pacific Northwest and I just paid $3.20 for regular. My SUV friends used to tease me, they said my Subaru was 'so small' and 'cute'. 30mpg compared to 15mpg...it is cute isn't it.

    In England it's about $6.97 a gallon!

While the gasoline in Europe is more expensive per gallon, Americans also drive very far to work. I put in a little over 100 miles a day for a round trip just to go to work. Sitting in traffic for two hours just to travel 15 miles doesn't help either. With my compact, I fill up about 5 times every 2 weeks. At $3.55/gallon (Southern California) that's $100/week.

And my commute isn't even that far compared to many of my friends' commutes!

If gas were to cost as much as it did in Europe, some people would be paying more for gas than they did for rent!

The cartoon is a little out of date in terms of prices, but it's dead on in terms of sentiment.

I think gas price will play a big role in the upcoming election in the US.

I agree with Amy: the lack of viable public transportation in places like Southern California plus the long drive to work more than made up for the lower gas prices in the US as compared to Europe.

Comes out to 3.62/gal in Canada, I put in 20$ today in Dallas Tx at 2.98... Guess living in Tx has some benifiets... And the public transport is completely unusable here...

Hmm, I like that americans get their pants in a fankle about the CRAZY privce of petrol...huge cars, fuel kept low to keep lazy yanks happy.

I can't imagine how this global warming lark happened!
