In Loving Memory of Petunia.

If you're wondering why there has been no new post on Neatorama, it is because yesterday evening, Petunia, our basset hound passed away. She had been a very cute, loyal, and at times stubborn yet always charming and loving member of our family for nearly 10 years.

Petunia was diagnosed with cancer not long ago, and we tried to fill the last weeks of her life with as many walks and cookies as she wanted.

We are grateful that we had the little extra time to enjoy her wonderful company. We will always miss you, Petunia.

Love,
Alex and Tiffany.

PS. I will be back with new posts after a short break. I have enjoyed working on Neatorama, watching it grow quickly in readership, and most of all - reading all of your comments. This blog is dedicated to Petunia - mouseover to see her dream about her most favorite thing in the world.

I'm sorry for your dog's death, and good that you had such a good time together on her last days.

Neatorama is amazing, so cool. I'm an asidous reader and I understand your silence.

Carry on the good work carry on the smiles!

Good luck!

I am so sorry for your loss. What a great thing you did for your dog though, I'm sure it made her last days more comfortable and pleased her very much. I am sure she was a very happy dog and appreciated the love and kindness you showed her. My thoughts are with you and your family during this time.

So very sorry to hear about your dog. Pets can make such an impact on your life, can't they? I know how grief-stricken I was when we had to have our cat Marcie put down a couple of years ago.

Best wishes from the UK

I'm so sorry for your loss. In time, you will find that Petunia has left a dog-shaped hole in your life that only a new dog can fill. But for now, I hope the pain soon fades and the happy memories are with you forever.

It's ok. Your site is wonderful but your feelings truly do come first. Like people have said, take all the time you want.

Loseing a pet is a hard thing and takes a long time to heal. Do take care. You and Petunia are in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about your beloved Petunia. I know it is hard and nothing anyone can say will make you feel better. Just try to hang in there and go in peace.

Miss Curly

Neatorama is awesome!

So sorry to hear of your loss. People who don't have animals sometimes don't realize the extent to which people really love them and think of them as part of the family, how deservedly they are loved, and how much love they give in return.

I'm so sorry for your lost. I have a 12 yr old Cocker Spaniel who has also had cancer but that was a few years ago. Still, I regret the thought of that day coming when I lose my long-time companion.

So sorry to read about your beloved companion. I live with six cats and couldn't miss a single one of them. I read your site daily, but have never posted a comment yet, due to extreme laziness and inbred lurkerism. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all the wonderful moments you have provided.

i lost a dog 4 years ago tomorrow, i've never forgotten her and i never will. it's hard but it will get easier over time. i finally got another dog and although i felt guilty about "replacing" her, it's not the same. they are all individual characters. my big slobbery saint bernard send her love and best wishes.

So sorry about your pup. It is extremely difficult to lose a pet. My deepest condolences to you and your family, and I'm sure Petunia is devouring all the steak and cookies she desires in puppy heaven.

I admire you for the cool site you have created here, and I admire you more knowing that you are the kind of person who cares so deeply for the ones around him. Petunia was very fortunate and so are we. Take care and be proud of what you have done in life.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Your pets become like children to you over time.
I lost my dog in 2001, he was 14, and I still miss him now. I'd had him since I was 14 and it was a bad time for me but things do get better over time, I promise. The best thing is is that you will always have your memories to cherish.
Take it easy. Steve.

Dear Alex and Tiffany,

I know how much the loss of a loved pet can hurt. I like to think that my past pets are waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. Your Petunia deserves such a good place while awaiting you. Many good thoughts and blessings.

I am so sorry to hear about Petunia. Sounds like she was a wonderful furkid and had a wonderful family. All of our dogs have been lifelong furkids as well. We miss them.

Sorry to hear Petunia has moved on. I think it was Mark Twain (but I could be wrong) who said, "If dogs don't go to heaven I want to go where they go."

Hello everyone,

Tiffany and I are very touched by your kind words and support. Thank you for the outpouring of support, calls, and emails - they mean a lot to us and had made this difficult time a little easier to bear.

I'd also like to thank those who wrote that they enjoy the site. Neatorama is a labor of love (my wife would say an obsession), and I'm glad that it brings a little enjoyment to its readers.

For those who just recently lost their pets, please accept our sympathies - we know how it feels. Pets are loving members of a family and their deaths can affect us greatly.

We will continue to cherish the memory of Petunia and will lovingly honor her life for the rest of ours.

Warmest regards,
Alex and Tiffany.

Hi Alex:

I am so sorry to learn that Petunia finally pass away. I was very shock and sad just as you. She is definitely a cute and loyal dog I came to know since I first meet her at your house. I will never forget the way she ask for food. she will scracth the sliding door and let you know what she really want. She never bark and she always pay attention to you if you waive for her. I will always remember her. she is also very unique to me. Hope you feel better as time goes by.

So Sorry for your loss,
we've had many dog and cat companions throughout the years. It's a cycle, so much unconditional love and then sadness and an empty feeling that's filled by another animal pal.
Love from NYC,
Keep up the great work on the site. Wish I could post pictures of my guys.

we have two great bassetts, zoe' and oliver, they are great with kids!

they are getting old , though, and i cringe at the thought of losing them, they are like children to us.

a new puppy should be in the works for you to help ease the pain

My deepest condolences. One of my family's furry friends passed away earlier this year so I know how hard it is. The important thing is that Petunia's suffering is over, and hopefully yours will subside soon. You're in my thoughts...

I'm sorry to read about your loss. I'm sure that Petuina will be waiting for you on the other side of "Rainbow Bridge". I still miss my "Lucky" since I had to have her put to sleep due to cancer. My heart truly goes out to you. These wonderful creatures that allow us to share our homes with them are not "pets", but are adopted family members and are loved and cherished. They give so much more than they take and we are so much richer for having them touch our lives.

I know how you feel. When my basset died, it felt like my whole world whent with her. She was so loving and caring, just like every basset on this planet. They just can't be mean:) Just remember, there's plenty of good basset hounds that need good homes out there:) Hope you feel better soon.

My beloved Coco passed too, he was a boxer that lived with us about 15 years, and I know and understand what you are feeling.
Sorry about your lost.

I did not know Petunia. I do not know you. I have a dog. I love him. I will miss Petunia for that reason. I know what a dog means to it's co-habitants
Take care. My thoughts are there.
