University of Idaho grad student Yaniria Sanchez-de Leon found this giant 6-inch white Palouse earthworm.

Early observers reported the giant Palouse earthworms could grow 2- to 3 feet long, big but modest compared to relatives from Australia that can reach 10 feet long.

Unfortunately, the giant earthworm from Gippsland (where I live), in Australia, is a threatened species, probably due to habitat destruction. Come and see them while you still can people!

Has anyone ever seen or have a photo of the 10-foot species?

What kind of heart does this worm has to be able to pump blood through the entire lengths of its body?
