Just so you know, another company called Atiz just launced a new fully automated book scanner called Atiz BookDrive that is portable or about a size of 2 PCs.
The speed is 500 pages an hour and it costs $35K.

I’ve seen this contraption in action at a public library while in Boston. The speed was cool (though they said they now had one that went twice as fast), the full color digital images were cooler, but I thought the coolest thing was the fact that the scans didn’t have that distortion in the spine you get with flatbeds. A bonus is that it looks alot like that ultra-neat Doctor Who time machine.

You will find that the Atiz drops to a much slower speed of below 200 pages per hour when scanning at 300 dpi color.

http://www.4digitalbooks.com has a book digitising machine that can do up to 3000 pages per hour.
